What to Expect at an Infant Reflux Evaluation at
Beacon Clinic

The first visit at Beacon Clinic of Chiropractic for an infant with reflux begins with Dr. Bronstein sitting down with the parents to take a detailed history. He will ask about the birth, including the type of delivery and any complications. He will ask about the reflux itself — how frequently the baby spits up, whether there are signs of pain during or after feeding, what positions seem to help or worsen the symptoms, and what has already been tried. He will also ask about feeding, including whether the baby is breastfed or bottle-fed, whether there are any latching difficulties, and whether the pediatrician has recommended any medication or dietary changes.

The hands-on assessment that follows is gentle and adapted to a young infant. Dr. Bronstein evaluates the cervical spine, craniosacral system, and thoracic spine using light, sustained contact appropriate for a baby. The evaluation does not involve any sudden or forceful movements. Parents are present throughout and are encouraged to ask questions as the assessment proceeds. At the end of the visit, Dr. Bronstein explains what he found, what he thinks may be worth addressing from a structural standpoint, and how chiropractic care at Beacon Clinic in Grover Beach, California might fit alongside whatever medical management is already in place for the baby.
